Hi! I’m Jocelyn!
I'm an Illinois State Board of Education-certified teacher with 10 years serving as a English teacher and mentor in Chicago Public Schools and suburbs.
In addition to my Masters in Secondary Education, I'm certified in English and Language Arts, bilingual education, English as a Second Language, and middle grades education.

I have a heart for propelling students into their potential. From newcomers to English natives, I believe all students have the capacity to achieve “Level 4 Mastery” – understanding concepts so well, they can teach it to others.
How do I level up their learning?
By empowering them to figure out the best solution, not just seek the right answer.
Is Your child new to the united states?
Students who are new to the US can benefit from a tutor who has walked a mile in their shoes.
Having work internationally in Jerusalem and Madrid, and learning Spanish as a second language, I can empathize with the struggle of acclimating to a new culture and just wanting to “fit in.”
So, I was especially delighted for the opportunity to teach in Desplaines District 62’s Multilingual English Learners program, and apply that teaching model to help newcomer students succeed in other school districts.
